Fringy narratives

Hi! My name is Justin, and I am a social biologist eager to zoom in onto the mold that grows in the corners of our world—communities often overlooked by the majority, yet quietly thriving, claiming a world of its own. I approach these groups like a scientist with a microscope, eager to lay bare the intricate webs and stories that twist and turn beneath what’s visible. It’s fair to say that I’m drawn to the places and people that exist just out of easy reach, where the residues of mainstream society quietly accumulate.

I am fascinated by what endures in such corners…

Through short films, photo essays, and digital zines, I try to bring these hidden worlds into focus, inviting others to witness the beauty and richness that blossom in the dark. My work is less concerned with wiping away the mold and more about letting it go wild—watching what new worlds will emerge when we let it spread. Go ahead—I’ll be your microscope—stick your heads into the ‘corners’ of our society. You’ll be surprised at what you will discover.

  • Steps and Shadows

    Tango Wanderers Troupe

You glance once, they’re just dancers — strangers stepping in rhythm, arms wrapped, shoes sliding on the floor. But look closer and the stories start to spill out: about touch and distance, about what we’re allowed to show and what we bury. You can watch for the dance, or you can watch the real reason why they dance.

  • Invisible Hands

For school IT staff, librarians, security guards, and the rest of SFS’s overlooked community.

Everyone sees and recognizes the teachers and principals; people in the front of the classroom. But the IT staff who prefer that people don’t know they exist, and librarians with the inside scoop for school drama; they’re often the ‘invisible hands’ that keep our school running.
